Reaching clients and families through the Relay line¶
The Relay number lets you reach your client's family during your shift without sharing your personal number. It only works around your scheduled shifts, so your time off stays yours.
Sending a text¶
- Text the Relay number and start with the person's name, for example "Hi Susan, we're out of Dad's lotion."
- If you're on shift with their family member, it goes straight through. Replies come back from the same number with their name, like "Susan K: I'll bring some tonight."
- The conversation closes at the end of your shift. Text END RELAY to close it sooner, which you'll need to do before you can text someone else.
Running late? Text the Relay line. Your message goes through right away, even before your shift starts.
Not on shift? Your message is saved and sent just before your next shift with that client.
Making a call¶
Call the Relay number during your shift and choose from the client's main contacts. Calls are recorded.
Please remember¶
- Schedule changes, swaps, and time off go through the office, not the Relay line.
- Emergencies: call 911 first, then the office.
- The office can see Relay messages so they can help.
